Doing Our Part

Training thoroughbreds since 1939
As Pennsylvania's oldest working thoroughbred farm, Maui Meadow Farm is highly dedicated in doing our part to train and place all thoroughbreds, raced or not raced, sound or in need of rehabilitative care in safe and happy homes, which includes our own horses after their racing careers are over.
Our dedication runs very deep as we seriously strive to give back to our thoroughbreds in any manner possible including offering thoroughbred only shows, retraining for second careers and assisting owners off premises with their own thoroughbreds.
Maui Meadow Farm offers quality horses for new and approved homes, as well as training packages for owners who have acquired horses right off the track. These packages include training, rehabilitative care if needed and riding instruction for the owner. Maui Meadow also offers owners assistance in competing and showing their horses while in training.
Our Training Methods
Maui Meadow Farm has been training the thoroughbred horse since the 1930's. Generations of training and professional knowledge has been passed down for many years, enhancing our program and ensuring our horses train in the most comfortable way possible, while gaining confidence and catering to the owner's needs.
Here at Maui Meadow, our horses are started slowly and only progress when we feel they are comfortable. Horses are never forced and we take pride in carefully desensitizing horses to nor only natural surroundings, but situations where the horse may be asked to perform a task that is in an emergency situation.
Our horses are worked in hand to understand voice commands, making their first training rides attentive and respectful. Horses in our program not only train in our ring, but are introduced to our cross country field as well as our trails. As reward, we break the boredom of every day ring training by allowing our horses to trailer off premises to paper chases in wonderful hunt territory as well as off site schooling's. Horses are taught to navigate terrain, pony fellow horses in need of confidence across elements and tackle obstacles without hesitation. This in return, creates a respectful, happy and obedient horse who is kind under saddle and relaxed.
